Prime Video canceled fantasy series “The Wheel of Time” after three seasons, and fans are shocked by the decision.

Fans and critics alike felt that the show — which is based on Robert Jordan’s book series of the same name — was just starting to hit its stride when Prime Video axed it.

A March Forbes review noted that “The Wheel of Time” had “gotten surprisingly good,” with “genuinely fantastic” fight sequences.

Season 3 of “The Wheel of Time” ranked as the No. 1 Prime Video show in multiple countries, but it only lasted three weeks on the Nielsen’s Top 10 Originals chart. (The first two seasons remained on the list for their entire runs.) Still, viewers are in disbelief that “The Wheel of Time” is ending after such a strong season.

“Prime canceled The Wheel of Time after the best season they ever had?” one fan wrote via X.

“The Wheel of Time deserves more seasons. I can’t believe it’s been canceled while it’s just getting started,” another person wrote. “The series is 100 percent the best fantasy series I have watched in a long while. Prime video did us dirty.”

The Wheel of Time’s ensemble cast includes Rosamund Pike (Moiraine Damodred), Daniel Henney (al’Lan Mandragoran), Zoë Robins (Nynaeve al’Meara), Madeleine Madden (Egwene al’Vere), Josha Stradowski (Rand al’Thor), Marcus Rutherford (Perrin Aybara), Dónal Finn (Mat Cauthon), and Madeleine Madden (Egwene al’Vere).

Madden took to Instagram on Sunday, May 25, to address the show’s cancelation.

“Bringing Egwene to life has been the highlight of my career. I’ve learnt so much about myself from playing her and experiencing the world through her eyes, has been the biggest gift. She’ll always be apart of me,” she captioned a photo of herself as Egwene. “I’m immensely proud of everyone’s work and what we accomplished over the years. Everyone poured their hearts and souls into bringing this wonderfully, rich world to life.

One fan commented that it was a “ridiculously bad decision” for Prime Video to cancel “The Wheel of Time.”

“Brilliant series, brilliant cast, brilliant locations. Absolutely amateur from them,” the viewer wrote.
