It’s official — two more “Supernatural” alums will be joining the cast of “The Boys” for season 5.
In a video shared via The Boys’ official Instagram account on Wednesday, Feb. 26, Jensen Ackles, who has played Soldier Boy on “The Boys” since season 3, addresses his fellow “Supernatural” alums Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins.
“Hey, Jared. We got work to do. Again,” Ackles says. The clip then cuts to Padalecki, who replies, “OK, I’ll tell Misha. Misha, we got work to do.”
Collins says “OK” and gives the camera a thumbs up before asking, “What are we doing?” The video then cuts to a title screen for “The Boys.”
“Season 5 just got a bit more supernatural,” the video’s caption reads.
Ackles and Padalecki played monster-hunting brothers Dean and Sam Winchester on “Supernatural,” which aired from 2005 to 2020. Collins portrayed Castiel, an Angel of the Lord, beginning in season 4. He started out as a recurring character but was later upgraded to the main cast.

Eric Kripke, who created both “Supernatural” and “The Boys,” previously teased Padalecki joining the cast of the satirical superhero series.
“He’s been busy the last few years, so schedules haven’t worked out,” Kripe told Variety in May 2024. “I feel like I have to complete my game of ‘Supernatural’ Pokémon, and I have my one big one — very big one — left to catch.”
Kripke has also shared insight into the process of casting Ackles on the show. During a 2022 interview with Collider, he noted that Ackles was not a shoe-in for the role just because of his past experience with Kripke.
“I sent [a script] to him, and he loved it and then proceeded to have to fight for it,” the television producer said. “Nothing comes easy. There’s a lot of producers and executives who didn’t know him. So, he had to really go through his paces.”
When Ackles finally booked the part, it was “like a homecoming” for Kripke.
“I would say that to have Jensen come in as a new character — but one that I was already really familiar with in terms of his skills and as I say, the crayons in his crayon box — it made it easy, in a weird way,” Kripke said. “Like a family reunion, to just write something that I knew he could do.”
“Supernatural” fans reacted to news of Padalecki and Collins’ casting in the comments section of the Instagram announcement.
“Feeling that much joy in just 18 seconds was definitely not on my bingo card for this year. So - thank you,” one Instagram user wrote.
“YASS SUPERNATURAL SEASON 16: THE BOYS,” another chimed in.
In addition to Ackles, “Supernatural” alums Jim Beaver, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Rob Benedict have appeared on “The Boys.”
Season 5 of “The Boys” is expected to be released in 2026. Seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
