Big Lots may have shuttered stores in New Jersey, but this discount retailer is looking to take its place.
Rhode Island-based Ocean State Job Lot announced Wednesday that it would be taking over the leases of 15 Big Lots locations across the northeast.
The 15 locations would be spread across several states, including New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maine and Vermont.
Big Lots announced last year that it would be filing for bankruptcy, and therefore closing its stores.
It sold the company to investment firm Gordon Brothers, which leased out the former Big Lots locations that have closed to other retailers.
The following locations are where Ocean State Job Lot is set to replace Big Lots in New Jersey by mid-summer 2025:
- Barnegat: 580 N. Main St.
- Cape May: 3845 Bayshore Rd.
- Somers Point: 257 W. New Rd.
Ocean State Job Lot already operates in the following locations in New Jersey:
- Clinton
- Deptford
- Franklin Park
- Freehold
- Holmdel
- South Plainfield
- Sparta
Big Lots still has four locations operating in the U.S. in California, Idaho, Oklahoma and Tennessee, according to the retailer’s website.
