The boys volleyball season is almost at its end, and every Tuesday throughout the season, we’ll be releasing our Players of the Week.
Two players from each of the 13 conferences will be selected, but coaches are free to send any nominations to the email addresses below.

BCSL
Peter LaBorn, Riverside, Jr.
LaBorn has been a bright spot for Riverside this season. The junior ended the week with a new season-high of 11 kills against Cape May Tech. He averaged over seven kills per game while being a threat on the outside and in the middle.
Bryce Lewis, Burlington Township, Sr.
Lewis continues to be on a tear as one of the best hitters in Burlington County. He turned in a week with big numbers headlined by 14 kills against Pennsauken Tech. This came after 11 kills and seven digs in a three-set battle to Moorestown.
Big North Conference
Elijah Molina, Bergenfield, Sr.
Molina had 17 kills and 12 digs this past week and also had four aces to help lead Bergenfield to a 3-0 week, with wins coming against Paterson Kennedy, Vernon, and Demarest. Molina had nine kills against Demarest in a 2-1 win, and is currently averaging a little more than five kills per game.
Daniel Reyes, Passaic, Sr.
Reyes is coming off an impressive week, filling up the stat sheet with 16 kills, 20 digs, and 16 service points in a 2-1 week. Passaic earned two wins, one over Dwight-Morrow, and the other over West Milford. However, Reyes’ best performance of the week came against Bergen Tech in a 2-1 loss. The senior had 10 kills to go along with 10 digs and eight service points.
Cape-Atlantic League
Matt Viruet, Hammonton, Sr.
Viruet has been an important piece to the Hammonton offense for the entirety of the season, most notably in the kill department as the teams outside hitter. This past week, Viruet collected 17 kills and 19 assists, and also had two aces in a 1-1 week.
Kevin Moore, Cedar Creek, Jr.
Moore had a conference leading 48 assists this past week and was an instrumental part of Cedar Creek’s 2-0 week, earning wins over Camden Tech and Highland. Moore had 23 assists against Highland, and added a 25 assist performance at Camden Tech.
Greater Middlesex Conference
Ajit Sivakumar, Edison, Sr.
Sivakumar has gone over 200 kills for the third consecutive season. He ended the week with 14 kills and eight digs in a win against South River. This came after a week where the senior ended by filling up the stat sheet with 16 kills, eight digs, and four blocks against Hunterdon Central.
Joel Velez, Colonia, Jr.
Velez has taken over as the primary setter for Colonia and has thrived. He logged 22 assists and four digs with three kills against Jefferson before 15 assists before J.P. Stevens.
HCIAL
Christopher DelRosario, Kearny, Sr.
DelRosario has 156 kills on the season, and led Kearny to a ranked win over Hudson Catholic, 2-1. DelRosario contributed 15 kills and also added 10 digs in the victory. Kearny now has a 15-6 record on the campaign, and has an impressive 10-1 record in conference play - and the standout outside hitter has played a massive part in the team’s success.
Noah Mendoza, St. Peter’s Prep, Sr.
The standout setter has had an unbelievable season for St. Peter’s Prep, as Mendoza has contributed 396 assists on the campaign, and has shown no signs of slowing down. Mendoza had 43 assists and 13 digs this past week, leading St. Peter’s Prep to a win over Hoboken in a 1-1 week.
NJAC
Josh Jean, Vernon, Sr.
Jean took over as the setter this season after being one of the main weapons on the outside for Vernon. He has excelled in his new role. Last time out, Jean dished out 26 assists and added 13 digs. He has 12 games this season with 20 or more assists.
Alex Kalfoglou, Morristown, Sr.
Kalfoglou has been the perfect compliment to Rex McDowell this season. He has put together three games with double-digit kills as he approaches 200 for the season. This includes a 13-kill performance against Montclair. This came after 11 kills and four digs against Voorhees.
NJIC
Emanuel Cardona, North Arlington, So.
Cardona has burst onto the scene in a successful sophomore campaign, and has become a key part of the North Arlington offense. The sophomore has 132 kills and 76 digs, and opened some eyes this past week with 33 kills in a 2-1 week with victories over Paterson Arts and Leonia.
Alaittim DeLeon, Harrison, Sr.
DeLeon does a little bit of everything for Harrison, who has shown that it can compete with just about any team in the state. There is a lot of senior leadership, and DeLeon has been one of the names at the forefront of this offense. This season, he has tallied 169 kills and 48 blocks, and led Harrison to a 2-0 week, now on a five game winning streak.
Olympic Conference
Kyle Chan, Paul VI, Jr.
Chan has put up big-time numbers this season. He came close to a career0high with 36 assists in a win against Camden Charter. He followed it up with 20 assists against Sterling to end the week.
Davis Holloway, Sterling, Sr.
Holloway led the conference with 84 assists in four games last week. He ended the week with 25 assists in a win over Paul VI. This came after 24 assists and six digs against Camden Eastside. Sterling has put together six consecutive victories.
Shore Conference
Chase Ford, Toms River South, Sr.
Ford led the conference with 62 assists last week. It began with 36 assists against Jackson Liberty in a game where he added two kills, three blocks, and four digs. He added 26 more assists with nine digs against Colts Neck. Ford has filled up the stat sheet in many ways over the course of the season.
Van Miller, Southern, Jr.
Miller has been on a tear during the postseason. He helped Southern win another Shore Conference title with eight kills and five digs in the semifinals of the conference tournament against Holmdel. He followed that up with 15 kills against Marlboro in the final where he was able to take over in the third set.
Super Essex Conference
Anthony Martinez, Newark Lab, So.
Martinez played a key role in helping Newark Lab snap its recent two game losing streak, as the team responded in a big way with a 2-0 win over Eagle Academy. Martinez had 26 kills and 25 service points in a three-game span, and now has 111 kills this season.
Chris Ortega, Barringer, Sr.
Ortega had 20 kills, 11 digs, and 10 service points in a really impressive week. Barringer has looked to Ortega offensively, and he has answered the bell as the season is quickly coming to a close.
Skyland Conference
Alex Susan, Hillsborough, Fr.
Susan has turned into a major weapon in the Skyland in his first season. The freshman hitter logged 15 kills and 10 digs against Watchung Hills last week. He added 12 kills in the Skyland Cup final against Bridgewater-Raritan.
Andrew Zagula, Bridgewater-Raritan, Jr.
Zagula averaged 24 assists per game last week as the Panthers made a run to the Skyland Cup final. He turned in 28 assists against Hunterdon Central. He added 20 more assists in the final against Hillsborough.
Tri-County Conference
Jose Ramos, Triton, Sr.
Ramos did a little bit of everything this past week, posting 14 kills, 11 digs, 14 service points, and four aces in a 2-0 week where the outside hitter helped Triton defeat Salem Tech and Seneca.
Gavin Batterman, Williamstown, Jr.
Batterman had 59 assists and 20 digs this past week and helped Williamstown take down Timber Creek. Batterman had 28 assists against Timber Creek and tallied 31 assists in the game prior against Kingsway.
Union County Conference
Devon Fernandez, Oratory, Jr.
Fernandez is among the state’s leader in kills this season. He has three straight games with 20 or more kills. This includes 23 in a win against Newark Collegiate. Fernandez followed this up with 21 kills and four digs against St. Peter’s Prep.
John Laudman, Scotch Plains-Fanwood, So.
Laudman has stepped into an extended role for the Raiders with Andrew Sicinski missing time with an injury. The sophomore helped Scotch Plains-Fanwood win another Union County title with 10 digs. He turned in a high of 21 digs against West Caldwell Tech.
