Ava Kelshaw went the distance, allowing two runs on eight hits and no walks with three strikeouts as Mount St. Dominic, No. 4 in the NJ.com Top 20, defeated No. 1 Red Bank Catholic, 3-2, in Caldwell.

It is the second time this season Mount St. Dominic (23-3) has defeated a team ranked No. 1 and its seventh win over a state-ranked opponent this spring.

Brooke Mundy’s two-run single in the bottom of the sixth put Mount St. Dominic in front for good. Avery D’Ambola was 1-for-3 with a RBI.

For Red Bank Catholic (19-4), Lily Hagan was 2-for-3 with a solo home run and also struck out 10 in six innings, allowing three runs, four hits and three walks.
