The pesky rain from an offshore storm system isn’t quite finished with New Jersey yet, with some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms still in the forecast for Friday evening and Friday night.
And we still have a full week left before our super-soggy May comes to an end.
It’s been such a wet month that most areas of the Garden State have far exceeded their normal May rainfall totals in only three weeks.
Some towns and cities in Burlington, Morris and Warren counties have been drenched with nearly twice as much rain as they usually get in one month, according to rainfall data from the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail & Snow Network.
The volunteer network of trained weather observers, known as CoCoRaHS, has already measured 8.70 inches of rain in White Township, 8.46 inches in Butler, 8.42 inches in Frelinghuysen Township, and 8.35 inches in Belvidere.
Also hitting the 8-inch mark are Randolph and Lopatcong.
Here’s a look at the latest rainfall reports in each of New Jersey’s 21 counties, as of Friday morning.
To put the numbers into perspective, New Jersey normally sees about 3.3 inches of rain in South Jersey, about 4 inches of rain in Central Jersey and 3.7 to 4 inches of rain in North Jersey during the entire month of May, according to the National Weather Service.
