N.J. man, 62, arrested after officers find $152K, drugs in home, cops say

A 62-year-old Fair Lawn man was arrested late Monday after police responded to reports of a suspicious person and uncovered a large-scale drug operation in his home, authorities said.

Timothy S. Brown, of Ward Street, was spotted walking up and down driveways near his home around 11:09 p.m., according to Fair Lawn police.

Officers said they found Brown with a knife sticking out of his pocket, screaming incoherently and banging on the front door of a nearby home.

Police handcuffed Brown and secured the knife. As they investigated further, officers noticed the front door of Brown’s own home was ajar.

After entering the house to check for endangered occupants, officers instead discovered multiple signs of drug distribution and manufacturing, police said.

Detectives later executed a search warrant and seized 1.41 pounds of marijuana, 1.25 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, two marijuana plants, two grow tents, and $152,200 in cash, authorities said.

Brown was charged with distribution of drugs and money laundering, both as second-degree crimes, possession of drugs as third and fourth-degree crimes, and several disorderly person’s offenses, court records show.

He was turned over to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department and later booked into the Bergen County Jail, records show.

Attorney information for Brown was not listed in jail or court records.
