N.J. man, 19, struck by car crossing Jersey Shore street, cops say

A car struck and injured a 19-year-old pedestrian in Seaside Park early Monday, authorities said.

The man, a Toms River resident, was crossing at the corner of M Street and Central Avenue at around 1:30 a.m. when he was hit, Seaside Park police Sgt. Andrew Casole said. He was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township, but his condition was unknown.

The vehicle was driven by a man in his 40s turning at the intersection, Casole said. The pedestrian was alone.

It was’t immediately clear if the driver was ticketed or charged following the crash. He remained at the scene and dialed police after the collision, Casole said.
