McDonald’s might be discontinuing this popular sweet treat

McDonald’s fans know there are plenty of options they can choose from on the menu, ranging from permanent menu items to limited-time offerings.

Sometimes, limited-time offerings can become part of the permanent menu based on demand.

But there are other times when a fan-favorite product that is just starting to be rolled out gets yanked from the menu, and its not pretty.

In this case, McDonald’s started a partnership with Krispy Kreme where McDonald’s would sell their doughnuts.

That partnership is now on hold as the two companies reassess their strategy.

Here’s the latest on what’s happening with McDonald’s and Krispy Kreme.

Will McDonald’s continue to sell Krispy Kreme doughnuts?

According to Krispy Kreme’s first quarter 2025 financial report, Krispy Kreme announced it would not be expanding its partnership with McDonald’s to distribute its doughnuts at McDonald’s locations.

As of March 30 of this year, Krispy Kreme doughnuts were available in about 2,400 McDonald’s restaurants.

However, the report noted that Krispy Kreme does not intend to “launch in any additional restaurants” and is “reassessing” its rollout with McDonald’s.

McDonald’s and Krispy Kreme started their partnership in 2024 when the burger chain started rolling out doughnuts at its Louisville, Kentucky, locations.

Soon after, Krispy Kreme said it would bring its sweet treats to most McDonald’s locations nationwide by 2026.
