Jersey’s Best Podcast, the ultimate New Jersey culture podcast, is once again back with another episode. And this time we’re talking about... well, how we talk. Episode No. 4 is all about New Jersey slang!
The latest episode is out now on Spotify, Apple Music or wherever you get your podcasts. Check it out (plus the previous three episodes, as well). If you like what you hear, please subscribe and leave us a review.
In case you missed the announcement, this weekly podcast is hosted by me, NJ.com food and culture reporter Jeremy Schneider. Joining me will be a cast of very Jersey guests as we break down all the things that make the Garden State spectacular, bizarre, sometimes annoying, but always the best.
New episodes will post every Wednesday from here on out. This is the latest episode:
Jersey’s Best Slang — Why Do We Talk Like This? Our, uh, colorful New Jersey language unites us, even if it separates us from the rest of the country. Host Jeremy Schneider is joined by comedian and noted Bennie dissenter Allie Mae to break down all their favorite Jersey slang, from saltpepperketchup and 20regularcash to the more obscure Jersey Slide and Goosey Night. They also bond over which New Jersey highway has not yet been lost to corporate America. Then Allie takes on our trickiest Garden State Gauntlet yet, identifying Jersey town nicknames.
You can also follow @jerseysbestpodcast on Instagram and TikTok — lots of silly good stuff going on there, too.
