In case you missed the announcement, this weekly podcast is hosted by me, NJ.com food and culture reporter Jeremy Schneider. Joining me will be a cast of very Jersey guests as we break down all the things that make the Garden State spectacular, bizarre, sometimes annoying, but always the best.
New episodes will post every Wednesday from here on out. These first two episodes will get you started:
Episode 1: Jersey’s most breathtakingly ugly places, ranked. I’m joined by comedian Nick Fierro to count down 10 of the “so hideous they’re spectacular” places only true New Jerseyan could love. Come along as the guys detail a strip club under a bridge, a hot dog that looks like a witch’s finger, the gross glory of Fairytale Forest and the refinery that gives us a bad name (and smell).
Episode 2: Wawa vs. QuickCheck, the ultimate showdown — with taste test. Yes, New Jersey loves Wawa like a brother (who brings you hoagies). But QuickChek is actually the true Jersey native? Jeremy is joined by Wawa superfan Tyler Gyuirsin — the dude who famously collected sandwich receipts 1 to 999 — to settle once and for all, which is the greatest N.J. convenience store. The guys talk history, signature items, and do a live taste to really solidify on their picks.
