Six different batters found the hit column and recorded at least one RBI for sixth-seeded Glen Rock as it rolled to a 13-0 win against 11th-seeded Sparta in five innings in the first round of the North Jersey Section 1, Group 2 playoffs in Glen Rock.
Glen Rock’s victory advances it to the quarterfinal round where it will clash with the winner of Tuesday’s contest between 14th-seeded Newton and third-seeded Ramsey.
Sean Spitaleri led the charge for Glen Rock’s lineup, driving in three runs and coming around to score twice in a 2-for-3 showing in the batter’s box. Andy Arrighi recorded two RBI and scored two runs in a 1-for-3 effort while Wyatt Morrissey plated a run, scored a run and drew a walk while going 2-for-2 for Glen Rock (20-5).
Nick Atme and Evan Lagemann combined to toss the shutout. Atme scattered one hit and one walk while striking out three Sparta batters across 4 2/3 innings before Lagemann recorded the final out.
Sparta wraps up its 2025 season with a 10-12 record.
