A.J. Dybantsa, the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2025 and the potential No. 1 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, and BYU will face UConn in a non-conference game in November at Boston’s TD Garden, NJ Advance Media has learned.

The game is expected to take place Nov. 14 or 15, as first reported by Jon Rothstein.

The 6-foot-9 Dybantsa is a native of Brockton, Mass., who takes great pride in his hometown.

“Not everybody knows about Brockton, so I’m really trying to put it on that map,” Dybantsa told ZAGSBLOG in 2023. “Massachusetts gets a little bit more love, but Brockton is my home.”

UConn won back-to-back NCAA championships in 2023 and ‘24 under Jersey City native Dan Hurley. The Huskies have reloaded and figure to be a preseason Top-5 team entering the 2025-26 season.

BYU will also face fellow Big East member Villanova Nov. 3 at T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

“One of our main focuses heading into the 2025-26 season was playing a tougher non-conference schedule, and the Hall of Fame Series Las Vegas helps us achieve that,” BYU coach Kevin Young said. “We are excited to open the season against Villanova at T-Mobile Arena in November and expect to see Cougar Nation out in full force.”

Dybantsa also mentioned a potential game with Duke when he committed, but nothing has materialized on that front.
